Happy International Mountain Day!⁣⁣ Mountains are a life force. They provide 70% of the world’s freshwater to 1.1 billion people living downstream. This photo shows one of my favorite mountain moments that I’ll never forget, sunrise on Everest/Chomolungma at nearly 8600m/28,215”.⁣⁣Unfortunately, the glaciers that provide reliable water to millions of people are melting rapidly. In the Himalayas, air temperature has already risen by nearly two degrees Farenheit since the start of the 20th century.⁣⁣We need to stand with youth leaders worldwide to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at scale. It’s time to require polluters to pay for their emissions by setting an economy-wide price on carbon. We need to move toward achieving net zero emissions. We have to protect our precious mountain environments and our public lands from fossil fuel extraction. We have a responsibility to future generations to leave the ma healthy, viable planet.⁣⁣There is still time. We know what to do. Let’s do it. #MountainsMatter
