Today is #WomensEqualityDay, which acknowledges the day that women gained the right to vote (less than a century ago, which is crazy). ⁣⁣While I am grateful for the gains we've made for women's rights, we still have a lot of work to do. Only 11% of Everest summiteers are women, 5% of Fortune 500 CEOs (in fact, there is a higher percentage of men named James than there are female CEOs), and 12% of Republican Senators (according to @nytimes). Research shows that girls' self-esteem peaks at age nine. ⁣⁣I'm grateful for the support of the men in my life who allow me to be a leader and to be the best version of myself. I'm grateful for the women mentors in my life in the mountains. They say you can't be what you can't see, and because of role models like @Liz_daley, @hilareenelson, @kitdski and @melissaarnot, I've been able to imagine myself on the highest peaks. Finally, I'm thankful for the brands that support me that have women in leadership positions at the highest levels – @fattire, @patagonia, @gaiaherbs, @lekiusa, and @allgoodbrand. ⁣Together, we continue to #ClimbForEquality. I'm hopeful, optimistic and excited to continue this work with you to elevate the status of women, girls, and mothers in our society. Photo: @graysonschaffer #livelikeliz #EqualityCantWait
