Hiking Mt. Nebo, the highest peak in the Wasatch

One of my favorite things about skiing is canyon dining. There is something very special and romantic about enjoying a meal on the mountain. Today, I had the opportunity to stop by the Stone Haus at Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon for a bite to eat. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that all their soups, sandwiches and pizzas are made in house from fresh ingredients, including the pizza dough. I just assumed the soup came from concentrate out of a plastic bag and was mixed with water but today’s minestrone was so delicious. And the grilled cheese was cooked fresh. It was the perfect mix of carbs, protein and a little fat to sustain us through a cold winter afternoon on the slopes. You can even get beer and coffee there!
The Stone Haus is located inside the Solitude village. Take the second Solitude exit when heading up Big Cottonwood Canyon

Ridgelines and chute entrances were rocky, but there were good windows to hit big lines.
