This week, the President signed a huge public lands bill into law that added 1.3 million acres of wilderness and permanently reauthorized the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The passage of this bill is a milestone for conservation and outdoor recreation. It combined more than 100 land and water conservation bills, designated 350 miles of river as Wild and Scenic, and created nearly 700,000 acres of new recreation and conservation areas. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When we go to DC to talk to policymakers about outdoor recreation and public lands, it’s often hard to measure the success of each trip. I am confident that this bill is the result of the tireless work of thousands of people continuing to show up and speak up for protected public lands.
