Korea

I recently returned from an amazing trip to Korea with my mom and sister-in-law, Sarah. My mom was invited to give a lecture there at an allergy conference and we were able to tag along. I absolutely love traveling and am so fortunate to have taken two trips to Asia this year, first to Japan in January and then Korea in October.

Here are some pictures:

Here’s me inside a traditional Korean thatched roof house–this one was actually part of a film set for a popular TV show. Nevertheless, I could definitely live here.

We hand-dyed scarves and t-shirts with marigold and onion skin. It was so fun to learn about this traditional Korean method.

The dye–much less toxic than most fabric dye.

Here’s Mr. Kim, our guide. He was the most patient and attentive guide with us. I’m not sure he knew what he was getting into, but he made for a truly spectacular experience.

Korea is a great place to travel. It is affordable and relatively easy to navigate. The food is sooooooooooooooo good–from a Bibimbap rice bowl to Kalbi beef, I think any American will find new food that they love.

Love their uniforms–stylish and comfortable. The Koreans have great style and design aesthetics, from clothing to architecture and everything in between.

Sarah and I dressed up–she’s wearing Hanbok, the traditional Korean dress, and I wore the palace guard uniform.

Between the three of us, we have hundreds of pictures. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend traveling to Korea.

Here is a recent mini-documentary series I hosted for the Megaplex movie theater pre-show. Check it out.

My Next Home…

I am currently living in a trailer by the beach in Southern California to get in some ocean time before ski season starts.

But I’m saving up for my dream home…a shipping container.

I saw a picture of these dwellings made out of shipping containers while I was visiting Patagonia’s offices in Ventura this week.

I’ve certainly lived in smaller spaces before—

like this closet I slept in for a month in Japan while filming with Sweetgrass Productions for their new movie, Signatures, available now on their website at:

Fall Acting Class at the University of Utah

To all you U of U students out there, or for anyone who is looking for a challenge, the University of Utah offers an amazing opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera.

I’ve taken Lynne Van Dam’s acting class four times during my university career, and I always seem to find something new to improve upon.  Acting is such an adrenaline rush and being comfortable on camera is a great life skill that can help you in many situations, from a job interview to giving a speech.
