The weather in Utah is so unpredictable. It’s one of the things that I love about living here. It always keeps on you on your toes. Two days ago, we had 80 degree weather. Yesterday, it snowed 6" in the valley and 9" in the mountains. I love it!
Two days ago, with spring in the air, I called my bffn (best friend for now), Iris Noack to see if she wanted to go for a bike ride. Not just any bike ride but a ride on our beach cruisers for dinner and drinks in downtown SLC.
Here’s my cruiser in all it’s glory. I bought it for $25 at Deseret Industries (which is basically Salt Lake’s version of Salvation Army). Got the streamers for $2.99 at Toys ‘R’ Us. The basket, sadly, was the most expensive part on my bike.
We met up at my house by the U, and cruised all over town.
Here we are, ready to ride.
Iris on the right and me on the left.
Here’s a pic of Iris doing a sweet bunny hop.
We started by bombing through the hills by the U and through campus, then by 9th and 9th, through Liberty Park, ending up at Channon Cafe for some delicious Thai food. If you haven’t been there to eat already, I would highly recommend it.
Here we are at dinner, enjoying some of the most delicious Thai food in Salt Lake City. The red curry was so yummy! When you order, they ask you how many stars you want for spiciness, 1 being mild and 3 being hot. Iris tried to order 3 stars, and the waiter looked shocked. I made her tone it down to 2 stars for me.
After a fun night out, we took UTA Trax back up to the U. They let you bring your bikes on, so it’s a great way to go out without having to drive. It’s only $1.75 for a ride, but I only had a twenty dollar bill, and the Trax gives you silver dollars for change.
Anyway, it was a super fun night, and we were glad we did it on Monday, because it snowed yesterday on Tuesday. We want to try and do this throughout the summer, so if any of you have beach cruisers out there, let me know!
